Where ERP digitalised processes, transactions and efficiency, ERX — Enterprise Resource Execution — puts the person, the decision and the outcome at the centre. The process, the data and the erp system still matter, but they move into the background. What reaches the user is a short, clear prompt about the thing that needs attention right now.

The term is Gartner’s. They introduced Enterprise Resource Execution in their research on the shift beyond ERP, and it names something our customers already recognise from their own working days.

The difference is easiest to hear in how the system speaks.

Example: One order, thirty minutes, four areas

Take an ordinary Tuesday. Customer order 4471 will not make its promised delivery date. Today a planner spots the exception in an order list, checks stock across sites, calls purchasing about the delayed part, weighs the alternatives in a spreadsheet, mails the customer a new date and notes it in CRM. Roughly thirty minutes, four areas, three people — and it only works if you know the routine by heart.

Why the partner matters here

ERX is not one product. It is an ERP, a data platform and an AI layer that have to work together. The moment the answer stops being a single vendor’s roadmap, you need someone on your side of the table: no licence revenue, no quota, no angle to defend. We start from the decision you want to improve, then say what it should run on — and we can say when the best answer sits outside the systems we know best.

In practice there are two routes. You can build ERX on the AI capabilities inside IFS, or you can build it outside the ERP, on your own data and AI layer. We work with both. Our own view is that the route outside the ERP usually gives more freedom and a longer life, but that is a call we make together with you, based on your landscape and your ambition.
